If you’re like many individuals who want straight teeth, you’ve certainly heard about Invisalign but have questions about these invisible braces. Fortunately, because Invisalign has been worn by over 6 million people, many of the most commonly asked questions have previously been addressed.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a procedure that uses clear aligners to straighten teeth and correct bite problems without the use of metal brackets and wires. Invisalign is a set of transparent, removable plastic trays that straighten your teeth gradually. Each tray will be mailed to you, and you will wear it for 20 to 22 hours each day for 1 to 2 weeks, as prescribed by your dentist. The aligners exert light pressure on your teeth, which causes them to migrate to the proper position.
What material are the trays made of?
Invisalign employs SmartTrack®, a proprietary thermoplastic FDA-approved material that is devoid of BPA, BPS, latex, and gluten.
How does Invisalign straighten teeth?
Your dentist will design a one-of-a-kind computerized treatment plan that shows where your teeth will go. Each Invisalign tray adjusts your teeth progressively each day until you get your desired smile.
Do I have to wear the Invisalign aligners all the time?
You will wear your aligners for 20 to 22 hours each day, removing them only to eat, drink, and clean or floss your teeth.
What foods should you avoid while using Invisalign?
Remove your Invisalign aligner before eating or drinking anything, since this may damage or discolor the aligner. Brush your teeth thoroughly before replacing your Invisalign aligners.
Avoid eating foods that may cause your teeth to shift out of alignment when having Invisalign treatment. Avoid raw carrots, for example, and caramel, which can tug on your teeth. Coffee, tea, and wine are examples of liquids that might stain your aligners. Drinking hot liquids while using Invisalign might cause the aligner to distort.
How long will it take to complete Invisalign treatment?
The normal treatment duration for Invisalign is 12 to 18 months, however, you may notice improvements in as little as a few weeks.
What is the Invisalign procedure?
The Invisalign procedure begins with a visit to your dentist or orthodontist, who can advise you on whether Invisalign is correct for you. Your dental health professional will evaluate your teeth and bite as well as discuss your teeth-straightening goals with you. They will also talk about how long you have been using Invisalign and how you might enhance your outcomes.
After you agree on the plan, a laboratory will create your aligners and ship them to you every week or two. Each aligner will be worn for the specified period – generally one to two weeks. Remove the old aligner and begin wearing the new one as directed.
How can I start using Invisalign?
